By juillet, 7 2026No Comments

Quebec City, juillet, 7 2026 – One year after the inauguration of its technology showcase, the Carrefour de l’eau is taking a new step in its development with the opening of its modular space at Baie de Beauport in the Port of Québec.

Designed as a dynamic, evolving environment, this space brings together an interpretation and education center, collaborative workspaces, laboratories and test benches, as well as a technology showcase dedicated to water treatment and recycling technologies.

The Carrefour de l’eau’s modular space aims to bring science, technology, and the general public together to foster a better understanding of water-related issues and the solutions that will contribute to more sustainable management of this resource.

“Water is our region’s greatest asset. With the Carrefour de l’eau, we are making a clear choice: to transform this asset into a driver of innovation, economic development, and Quebec expertise. This project brings together researchers, entrepreneurs, and citizens around a shared goal: to make the Capitale-Nationale a global leader in sustainable water management.”

Jean-François Simard, Minister of Employment and Minister responsible for the Capitale-Nationale region

“The Carrefour de l’eau brilliantly illustrates our ability, right here, to imagine, design, and deploy technologies capable of addressing global challenges such as water management and its growing scarcity. The City of Québec congratulates the organization on this major milestone and invites everyone to come discover the modular space at Beauport Bay this summer!”

Bruno Marchand, Mayor of Québec City

“What a source of pride it is to take another step forward today in the development of the Carrefour de l’eau. Following the inauguration of our technology showcase last year, this modular space brings our vision to life by bringing together awareness-raising, innovation, research, and experimentation in a single location. It offers a concrete glimpse of what we hope to build by 2030: a center of excellence and innovation dedicated to sustainable water management.”

Alexandre Guindon, Executive Director of Carrefour de l’eau

“With this modular space, we are taking a concrete step toward our goal of making Québec City a true water capital. By bringing together expertise and fostering collaboration among stakeholders in the sector, we are creating the conditions necessary for the emergence of a strong, structured, and forward-looking Quebec water industry.”

Frédéric Dugré, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Carrefour de l’eau

This launch event brings together partners from the institutional, scientific, business, and innovation sectors. Guests will have the opportunity to tour the facilities and speak with those involved in the project’s development.

A new attraction to discover this summer in Quebec City

Open to the public free of charge throughout the summer, the modular space offers an experience centered on exploring and learning about water.

Located in Beauport Bay, it adds to the region’s summer attractions with a program of events accessible to everyone. Through educational content, awareness-raising activities, and technology demonstrations, visitors will be able to explore the water cycle, water treatment and recycling technologies, and the impact of our daily actions on this resource.

A Vision for 2030

The modular space marks an important milestone in the rollout of the Carrefour de l’eau, which continues to expand with the goal of establishing a center of excellence and innovation in the water sector by 2030.

By bringing together researchers, businesses, institutions, and citizens around a shared goal, the Carrefour de l’eau aims to accelerate the development, testing, and implementation of solutions that contribute to sustainable water management.
